Information and Planning Meeting “MOREOB Program for Rwanda”

Organizer : “Maternal, Newborn and Child Health in Rwanda” a partnership project between Western University, Canada and the Kigali Health Institute and the National University of Rwanda.

Overall Purpose : To introduce a very successful patient safety program in Canada and the USA for continuing professional development in maternal child health.

The Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently (MOREOB) Program :
The MOREOB Program was created in 2001-2002 to address serious risk and patient safety issues. The MOREOB Program is a continuous patient safety improvement program for physicians, midwives, nurses, and all other stakeholders in obstetrical care units. It aims to eliminate the culture of blame, builds confidence in competency, and improves patient safety and the quality of care. It is also directed at decreasing adverse events and clinical errors by providing data to support change and encouraging collaboration among all stakeholders in obstetrical care units.

Objectives :
1) What is MOREOB ?

2) What is special or different that would make it worth considering ?

3) Will it be of use in Rwanda ?

4) If it is used in Rwanda, how should this program be introduced and to whom ?

5) What needs to be modified for it to be of most value ?
