The Rwanda Medical and Dental Council must ensure that candidates willing to practice medicine and dentistry in Rwanda meet the required standards and demonstrate competencies defined in the Core Curriculum before licensure in line with the ordinary Law Nº 44/2012 of 14/01/2013 establishing the Council.
All General Medical or Dental Practitioners with degrees issued by medical schools non-accredited by EAC Councils or any Foreign Medical School seeking to register with the Council must sit for licensure examinations. Download the Licensure Examination Policy

The Licensure examinations is set following the blueprint approved and published on the RMDC website.

The licensing examination shall be a comprehensive examination in General Medicine or Dental Surgery. Discipline-based examinations will no longer take place (ie separate disciplines : Pediatrics, Gynecology, Surgery, etc….)
The written examination will be made of 200 Multiple Choice examination questions (Single best answer) while Clinical practice and skills are assessed using a practical examination, which consists of stations that follow the commonly used formats of an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). It consists of a minimum of 15 stations of at least minutes each.

• Practical Examinations : 30th May 2021
• Deadline for Application : 30th April 2021 at 17h00.

Every applicant for the Licensure examinations should mandatorily submit the following documents to the Secretariat of Rwanda Medical and Dental Council :

1. Signed Application Form ;
2. Copy of ID/Passport ;
3. Colored passport size photo ;
4. Notarized copy of Degree from a recognized medical or dental school ;
5. Notarized Academic transcripts ;
6. Current CV ;

8. Evidence of payment of Examination fees of 50,000Rwf for Rwandan and EAC Partner states and 100 USD for Foreigners paid at RMDC’s account No 00040-0282401-67 in Bank of Kigali
9. Health fitness certificate or Medical Report
10. Criminal records report of the last 5 years

All Documents should be translated to English and sent info@rmdc.rw (with Title application for May 2021 licensure examinations) or submitted to the Secretariat of RMDC.
