Trauma Team Training(TTT)
In the efforts to ensure Continuous Professional Development (CPD) which is currently an obligation for everybody working in Clinical Settings in Rwanda, the Rwanda Surgical Society (RSS) is committed to give the priority to the TTT course as a component of its CPD activities (including also Basic Surgical Skills Course) extended mostly to the health personnel working in District Hospitals. Thanks to the critical funding support of the MOH and the active engagement of the CPD staff officers, the RSS has been able to launch the Trauma Team Training that will cover all the provinces by mid-August 2012
Teams formed by 2 Medical Doctors, 1 Nurses and 1 Anaesthetic Technician from each of designed six District Hospitals and will be trained on trauma management and promoting team work in trauma situation. In the Western Province this training held in Karongi District at Golf Hotel and KIBUYE District Hospital from 14th to 16th June 2012. At the same moment the activity held in Southern Province held in Huye District at Credo Hotel and CHUB Hospital.
The training started at 10:00 am and was opened by the Chairman of Rwanda Surgical Society Dr. Emile Rwamasirabo and facilitated by Rwanda Surgical Society members. He thanked all participants for attending this important training and encourages the follow and informed them that they will even gain CPD credits.
At the beginning of the training he explained that recent studies have shown that Road traffic accidents are one of the most rapidly raising causes of death in developing countries ; and that people living in low-income countries are more likely to die from road traffic accidents.
He explained that the objective of this course is to create an effective and competent Trauma Teams in Emergency Departments in all hospitals in Rwanda.
