Airway Management

Rwanda Medical and Dental Council has approved a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program to improve, renew, and update the skills and ability of all doctors and to ensure that appropriate, high-quality health services are being provided to patients.

With this audience the Faculty of Medicine /NUR is organizing workshop on “Airway Management” the workshop will be conducted from 16th May, 2013 to 17th May, 2013 at CHUK simulation center.

At the successful completion of this Training, each trainee should be able to :

1. Describe a systematic approach to airway assessment and develop a management plan for a difficult airway ;
2. Apply basic principles in airway management safely in a limited resource setting ;
3. Perform effective bag-mask-ventilation on a mannequin ;
4. Ventilate a mannequin using an extraglottic device ;
5. Intubate the trachea of the mannequin using both visual and non-visual techniques ;
6. Perform a cricothyrotomy in a mannequin ;

At the conclusion of the training, each Anesthesiologists , Senior anesthesia techs, Intensivists and Emergency Physicians will be able to manage Airway.
The workshop is an accredited CPD activity ; full attendance to the workshop will allow you to earn CPD credits.
