The Ministerial Order N° 20/20 of 03/06/2010 established a one year period of intensive internship training for every medical doctor who successfully completes a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery( MBChB). The intern is supposed to practice under the supervision of a senior medical doctor prior to registration with Rwanda Medical and Dental Council.


Medical and Dental Interns who qualified or graduated from EAC Region, if the University is accredited by EAC Boards/Councils, candidates will be given temporary one year registration certificate to complete medical education. Those who will have qualified from any other foreign University, the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council will process cases with due diligence and request candidate to write Council Qualifying Examinations to assess their competences and recommends for internship.
The Rwanda Medical and Dental Council requires that medical and dental interns applying for registration to submit the following documents to rwandamedicalanddentalcouncil1@gmail.com Secretariat of Rwanda Medical and Dental Council :

1.Application Form (signed)
2.Copy of ID/Passport
3.Coloured passport size photo
4.Notarized copy of University Degree or Degree Equivalence issued by the High Education Council(HEC) for foreign trained intern doctors(Use the published examinations results to apply for Equivalence at HEC).
5.Notarized copies of Academic transcripts
6.Detailed Current CV
7.Indexing certificate
8.Medical fitness certificate
9.Proof of successful passing Council Qualifying Examinations
10.Proof of payment of application fees of 30,000 FRW paid to the RMDC account No. 00040-0282401-67 in Bank of Kigali.
11.Police Clearance (Extrait du casier judiciaire)
12.Study leave (for those who were in service)
13.Deployment letter (only for those trained in Rwanda/UR)

Graduate who trained from European and Asian countries for their undergraduate Medical/Dental training shall be expected to undergo 2 years of internship in accredited internship centres and then write Council Qualifying Examinations. This will be to facilitate these Doctors acquaint themselves with Tropical medicine and Tropical diseases in general.

Applicants are reminded that all application materials should be submitted in one PDF document respecting the order of required documents available on the form. The application is rejected in case the applicant failed to submit all required documents.
