PM opens 4th East African Health and Scientific Conference

Kigali 27th March 2013 ; Addressing participants to the East African Health and scientific conference Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi said that the meeting aims promoting the better management of health delivery systems and better planning mechanisms that enhance efficiency of health care services.

4th ANNUAL EAST AFRICA HEALTH, SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

Premier further noted that the main objective of the conference is to enhance exchange between scientists, policy and decision makers on issues concerning health strategies for solving health problems at the regional level.

He urged participants to the meeting to exchange on areas of common concerns for the whole EAC counties like maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases, quality of care and Health systems.
"I am happy to inform you that the Republic of Rwanda has already reached the MDG 4" said Dr. Habumuremyi.

The Deputy Secretary General of the EAC, Jesca Eriyo commended Rwanda for organising this year’s conference and noted that previous annual East African Health and scientific conferences were successful and gave evidence based measures that remains key in health improvement.

The conference has grouped around one thousand (1000) delegates including health researchers, scientists, policy makers and political leaders from the five EAC Partner States as well as exhibitors and traders.
